Letter From the President

Greetings HDI Nebraska Community;

This last week of April 2019 marks our first community-facing election of local chapter officers -- a formal process the HDI Nebraska Chapter is committed to engaging in annually to ensure visibility, transparency and opportunity for member involvement across our vibrant network of ITSM professionals.

In alignment with HDI National requirements, each HDI Nebraska officer holds a term of 2 years. This 2019 year marks the end of my term as Chapter President, as well as for our VP of Social Media, Leanne Birkheimer and our VP of Marketing, Aaron Graves.

As part of our election preparation, we assessed our officer responsibilities and leadership needs, the outcomes of which led us to combine the VP of Social Media role with the VP of Marketing responsibilities, thus becoming VP of Marketing and Communications. Likewise, we combined the VP of Special Events role with that of VP of Programs responsibilities.

With the election now closed and the results tabulated, I’m very pleased to announce your newly elected HDI Nebraska officers effective May 1:

President – Laurie Lukken, Solution Center Manager, Nebraska Furniture Mart

VP of Marketing & Communication – Marc Johnson, CIO, WorldWide LTD

Laurie and Marc join the incumbent HDI Board as follows:

VP of Finance, Andrew Berry (Bank of the West)

VP of Membership, Abbey Clark (Robert Half Technology)

VP of Technology/Web Content, Adam Hohbein (Ameritas)

Though I am departing the Chapter President role, I will transition into a Chapter Advisory role, effective May 1. I can say that serving as an HDI Nebraska Officer the last 4-1/2 years has been one amazing ride that began with a passion for this industry and relationships, and evolved into amazing experiences and opportunities. I dearly thank the officers I’ve had had the honor work with in that time for all your support, perseverance and of course, heart-felt fun-filled memories.

In moving forward please mark your calendars! Thursday, May 24 is our annual Chapter Social on the patio of the Black Oak Grill (Mid Town) from 3:30 – 5:00 pm where we will introduce your new Board of Directors and recognize our departing officers. On behalf of the entire HDI Nebraska Board of Directors, we hope to see as many of you (members and non-members alike) attend the social to meet your officer team while networking in a relaxed atmosphere among your ITSM peer professionals. Details and registration for the May Social can be found on our website hdi-nebraska.org.

And, lastly, though this election is complete, we have a vacancy yet to fill with Laurie stepping out of the VP of Programs role and into the President role. For those of you thinking about joining this amazing leadership team -- be it for personal development, career development and/or a means to give back to your industry…..STOP THINKING…because…..

Life begins exponentially at the end of your comfort zone!

Many warm thanks,

Jane Leahy

President, HDI Nebraska 2016-2019
